Job Overview:
We are currently looking for a caring and dedicated Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic educational community in Bedford, starting September 2024. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting students with various special educational needs, ensuring they receive the customized assistance necessary to thrive both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and small group support to students with SEN, adjusting teaching methods to fit different learning styles.
- Assist classroom teachers in executing individualised education plans and strategies tailored to meet each student's specific needs.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, supported, and empowered to achieve success.
- Collaborate closely with SEN Coordinators and other school staff to develop and implement personalized learning goals and interventions.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, offering feedback to teachers and caregivers as needed.
- Support the application of sensory integration techniques and other therapeutic interventions as necessary.
Requirements:
- Prior experience working with individuals with special educational needs, ideally in a school environment.
- A genuine enthusiasm for promoting the academic and social growth of students with SEN.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships with students, colleagues, and caregivers.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience in challenging situations.
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, are beneficial but not mandatory.
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
