Dunbar Education is looking for an experienced Autism Specialist to join a school in Hertford. This position would be 1:1 and group focused with children that have Autism to support them in their academic progress along with social and life skills.
We are looking for candidates with strong professional backgrounds that intertwine with SEN needs (that can be Education or care or social sectors)
Overview of the Role:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism, helping them navigate both academic and social challenges.
- Work closely with the SENCO and teachers to adapt learning plans and strategies for individual needs.
- Implement behaviour management techniques and sensory strategies to support the emotional well-being of pupils.
- Communicate clearly with parents, teachers, and external professionals to ensure a joined-up approach in supporting the pupils.
- Help create a structured, predictable, and safe learning environment that supports the unique needs of children with autism.
What You'll Need:
- At least 6 months of experience working with children with autism in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of autism and how to adapt teaching and behaviour strategies to meet individual needs.
- A calm, patient approach and the ability to manage challenging behaviours.
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or a specialism in SEN (not compulsory)
- A DBS on the update service.
