BSL Teaching Assistant

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic BSL Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at this school. As a BSL Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students with hearing impairments can fully access the curriculum and thrive in a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group support for students who communicate using British Sign Language (BSL)
- Assist teachers in delivering lessons and ensuring classroom activities are accessible to all students
- Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere
- Help students with learning materials, including translating spoken language into BSL
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to tailor support to each student's individual needs
What We're Looking For:
- A proficient level of British Sign Language (minimum Level 2 or above)
- Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to supporting students
- Strong communication skills, both in BSL and written English
- Ability to work collaboratively with the wider school team
- A genuine passion for making a difference in students' lives
