Role and Responsibilities: As an SEN Learning Mentor, you will be a crucial member of our school's support team, working closely with students who have a range of special educational needs. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one support to students with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom environment.
  • Developing personalized learning plans in collaboration with teachers and SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Implementing strategies and interventions to enhance the academic and social progress of students.
  • Assisting students in developing their independent learning skills and boosting their self-esteem.
  • Monitoring and tracking the progress of students, identifying areas for improvement and adjustment.
  • Collaborating with parents/guardians and keeping them informed about the students' progress and any challenges.
  • Supporting students during transitions and ensuring their integration into different learning environments.
  • Contributing to the overall inclusive and supportive atmosphere of the school.

Qualifications and Skills: To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Relevant experience working with students with SEN.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to student support.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other support staff.
  • A strong understanding of various special educational needs and the strategies to address them.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to tailor your approach to the individual needs of each student.
  • An understanding of relevant policies and procedures related to SEN education.
