Dunbar Education is recruiting for a SENDCo to join a primary school in St Albans.
This role is for 3 days a week with full responsibilities.
Overview of the Role:
- Lead and manage the provision for pupils with special educational needs, ensuring they have the support needed to thrive in the school environment.
- Work closely with the leadership team, teachers, and parents to develop and implement SEN strategies that are tailored to each child's needs.
- Be responsible for writing, managing, and reviewing EHCPs, ensuring that pupils receive appropriate and effective support.
- Collaborate with external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for SEN pupils.
- Support staff through training and guidance to ensure they have the tools and knowledge to work effectively with SEN pupils.
- Drive inclusion, ensuring all children have an active role in the school community.
What We're Looking For:
- Either:
- An experienced SENDCo who has completed the National Award for Special Educational Needs (or is in the process of completing it).
- A highly effective class teacher with a strong interest in SEN who is keen to complete the award.
- Someone who is organised, works to deadlines, and has high expectations of both staff and pupils.
- A nurturing, caring individual who is enthusiastic about inclusion and ensuring every child can succeed.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
- An understanding of the importance of having a clear strategy for SEN and being proactive in supporting both children and staff.
