Speech & Language Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Speech and Language Specialist to join our team at a Primary School in Watford. In this role, you will provide crucial support to students with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) through personalised interventions and collaborative work with teachers and parents.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualised speech and language therapy to pupils with identified SLCN needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate speech and language strategies into classroom activities.
  • Monitor and assess the progress of pupils, adapting therapy plans as necessary.
  • Work closely with the school's SENCO, teachers, and external professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to each child's development.
  • Provide training and support to teaching staff on effective SLCN strategies and interventions.
  • Engage with parents and caregivers, offering guidance on how to support speech and language development at home.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree in Speech and Language Therapy or an equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • A strong understanding of child development and effective intervention strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
