Secondary School Teacher (Start Date: January 2025)
Location: High Wycombe
Salary: MPS/UPS

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons to students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, ensuring that all students are challenged and supported.
  • Act as a tutor to a group of students, monitoring their academic progress and supporting their personal development.
  • Collaborate with the school community to foster a positive learning environment and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.

Key Teaching and Learning Duties:

  • Teach according to the school timetable using a variety of teaching methods to ensure lessons are stimulating, inclusive, and in line with best practices.
  • Assess student progress through regular evaluations, including homework, class participation, and formal assessments, and maintain accurate records in the school database.
  • Work with Learning Support Assistants and Technicians to provide a supportive environment tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Attend parent evenings and staff meetings, sharing updates on student progress as required.

Tutoring Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and support the academic journey of each student in the tutor group, ensuring high standards in conduct, uniform, and attendance.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for parents, providing updates and addressing any concerns regarding students in the tutor group.
  • Encourage students' participation in school activities, including extracurricular clubs and the school's House System.

General Duties:

  • Uphold the school's performance management and self-evaluation processes.
  • Adhere to school policies and contribute to the school's broader goals, including those set out in the School Development Plan.
  • Participate in supervisory duties and ensure a safe learning environment for all students.

Person Specification:

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in a relevant subject area.
  • Recognized teaching qualification (DfE).
  • Strong subject knowledge and an up-to-date understanding of effective teaching practices.
  • Proficiency in using ICT to enhance learning.

Desirable Experience:

  • Familiarity with school self-evaluation processes.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
