Job Description: Teacher of Social Science - January Start

Dunbar Education is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Social Science for a secondary school in Peterborough, beginning January 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for an educator passionate about Social Sciences, whether early in their career or an experienced teacher looking to grow in a supportive and forward-thinking environment. Both full-time and part-time applications are welcomed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engaging Teaching Across Social Sciences: Teach Social Science subjects, including Psychology, Sociology, and Criminology, across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. You will bring enthusiasm and expertise to inspire and challenge students of all abilities, fostering a love for learning and encouraging critical thinking.

  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the Social Sciences department to develop and deliver a diverse and engaging curriculum. This includes planning innovative lessons that meet students' varying needs and integrating interdisciplinary approaches to enrich learning experiences.

  • Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess student work, track progress, and provide clear, constructive feedback. Participate in parent-teacher consultations, ensuring transparent communication about students' achievements and areas for development.

  • Classroom Management and Student Support: Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting high standards of behavior and fostering a culture of respect and curiosity. Support students' personal and academic growth through effective classroom management and individualized learning support.

  • Extra-Curricular Involvement: Enhance students' learning experiences beyond the classroom by participating in extra-curricular activities, subject-related clubs, and educational trips. Engage students in real-world applications of Social Science, inspiring them to consider future career pathways.

  • Professional Growth: Embrace opportunities for ongoing professional development through the school's CPD programs, keeping current with best practices and new teaching methods in Social Science education.
