Teaching Assistant - Autism Support

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join a Ofsted 'Good' Primary school in Potters bar as a Autism Specialist.

The role is heavily involved in you being able to guide the pupil and making sure their individual needs are being met to ensure they are achieving the academic targets. Not only this, but you will also need to provide emotional support and provide a safe working environment for the student.

Responsibilities:

As a Teaching Assistant for Autism Support, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and providing a safe and supportive environment for students to be able to engage in the activities and achieve their academic goals. Working alongside qualified educators, you will have the pre-prepared lessons and tasks to relay and help with.

  • Deliver the pre-prepared lesson to the student at an impressive level helping them understand and focus on the tasks set.
  • Create a safe working environment for the student and be trustworthy to make them feel comfortable.
  • Liaise with the classroom teacher feedback of the student's progression.
  • Implement teaching strategies to foster their independence, social interaction and academic skills.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications - Level 2 or Level 3 teaching assistant.
  • compassionate and skilled Primary Teacher with experience in supporting children with autism.
  • In-depth knowledge of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and interventions for supporting individuals with autism in an educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with the students and colleagues.
