About Us: We are working with a primary school nestled in Corby. They are committed to providing an enriching learning environment for all pupils, and are currently seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team. This is a temporary to permanent opportunity to work closely with a special needs child, supporting their learning and development on a one-to-one basis.

Position Overview: As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting a child with autism and some behavioural challenges within our school community. Working closely with the SENCO and classroom teachers, you will provide tailored support to ensure the child's individual needs are met, fostering their academic, social, and emotional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to the identified child, both in and out of the classroom setting.
  • Implementing and monitoring individualised education and behaviour plans, under the guidance of the SENCO and classroom teachers.
  • Assist in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment, adapting activities and resources to meet the child's specific needs.
  • Foster positive relationships with the child, promoting their independence, self-esteem, and confidence.
  • Monitor and record the child's progress, providing regular feedback to the SENCO and teachers.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly autism and behavioral challenges, is highly desirable.
  • A relevant qualification in education or special educational needs is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the evolving needs of the child and the school environment.
