Responsibilities: As an Attendance Support Officer, you will play a vital role in promoting and monitoring school attendance. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting home visits to pupils who are not attending school regularly.
  • Collaborating with parents/guardians to identify and address barriers to regular school attendance.
  • Maintaining accurate records of attendance and absences.
  • Working closely with school staff to develop and implement strategies to improve attendance.
  • Providing support and guidance to pupils, helping them understand the importance of regular school attendance.
  • Liaising with external agencies and professionals as necessary to support students' attendance needs.

Requirements: To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within an educational setting is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy and the ability to build positive relationships with students and their families.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • A commitment to promoting and ensuring high levels of school attendance.
  • Willingness to travel and conduct home visits when required.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures related to attendance and safeguarding.
