Are you a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting students with autism? We are seeking a skilled Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our secondary school in High Wycombe. Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with autism, addressing individual needs and promoting academic and social development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to create and implement effective strategies for the inclusion of students with autism in mainstream classrooms.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages the social and emotional well-being of students with autism.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of differentiated lessons to meet the diverse learning styles of students with autism.
  • Implement and monitor individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Work closely with parents and caregivers to ensure open communication and collaboration in supporting the student's holistic development.
  • Contribute to a positive school culture that values diversity and promotes inclusion.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working as a Teaching Assistant, with a focus on supporting students with autism.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, special education, or a related field.
  • Understanding of autism spectrum disorders and familiarity with evidence-based strategies for supporting individuals with autism.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to the well-being and success of students with autism.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to meet the evolving needs of students.
