Position: Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant

Location: Northamptonshire, United Kingdom

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with autism, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Implement individualised learning plans and interventions to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence and social-emotional development.
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies to manage sensory issues and promote self-regulation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to create personalised learning experiences.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to the classroom teacher.
  • Support students in developing their communication, social, and life skills.
  • Promote a positive and safe classroom environment that encourages engagement and participation.

Requirements:

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, specifically supporting students with autism.
  • Strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders and associated behaviours.
  • Knowledge of strategies and interventions to support students with autism.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with autism.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in autism support (desirable but not essential).
