Job Title: Complex Needs Care Assistant (SEN School)

Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire

Day rate: Starting from £92 per day (this is inclusive of the 6.5% pay rise)

This school is a reputable PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) provision located in Stevenage, committed to providing exceptional care and education for students with complex needs. The dedicated team there are passionate about supporting their students' overall development and enhancing their quality of life. We are currently seeking a compassionate and motivated Complex Needs Care Assistant to join the team. The successful candidates will be working with the school's most complex needs young people, so must be comfortable in nursing, personal care, and behaviour management.

Role Description: As a Complex Needs Care Assistant in our SEN (Special Educational Needs) setting, you will play a crucial role in providing personalized care and support to students with profound and multiple learning disabilities. You will work closely with our experienced staff to ensure the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our students. This is a hands-on role that involves personal care, including assisting with feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene routines. Additionally, lifting and manual handling may be required to ensure the safety and comfort of the students.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with personal care tasks, including feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene.
  • Support students in their daily activities, promoting independence and participation.
  • Create a safe and nurturing environment for students, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Help implement individualized education and care plans under the guidance of the teaching staff.
  • Provide support during therapy sessions and recreational activities.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student's progress and any incidents or concerns.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a care-related role is desirable, particularly in working with individuals with complex needs.
  • A genuine passion for supporting individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and resilience in challenging situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
  • Basic understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting a safe environment.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to carry out lifting and manual handling tasks as required.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic needs of the students and the school environment.
  • Relevant training or certifications in personal care, manual handling, or first aid are advantageous. However, training can be provided for the right candidate.
