Early Years Educator for SEN Provision

Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Early Years Educator to join a specialist school in Stevenage.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan and supervise child-initiated activities that promote learning, development, and creativity
  • Provide direction and support to children, ensuring their safety, well-being, and engagement
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and independent thinking
  • Collaborate with a team of educators and professionals to develop and implement individualised education plans
  • Monitor and assess the progress of each child, adapting teaching strategies to meet their unique needs and abilities
  • Establish effective communication channels with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on their child's progress and addressing any concerns or questions
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, including observations, assessments, and reports


  • Degree in a relevant subject (e.g., Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology) or equivalent qualification
  • Teaching qualification with a focus on early years education
  • Proven experience in planning and supervising child-initiated activities in an educational setting
  • Excellent understanding of child development principles and age-appropriate teaching methods
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children and supporting their holistic development
  • Knowledge of special educational needs and the ability to adapt teaching strategies accordingly is desirable
  • Willingness to continuously learn and engage in CPD opportunities
