We are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to join our vibrant school community as the Head of Department - Business Studies Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop the Business Studies department at our Ofsted Good-rated secondary school located in Barnet, London. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of Business Studies education within our institution.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Business Studies department, providing strategic direction and vision.
  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive and engaging curriculum in line with national guidelines, ensuring students receive a high-quality education.
  • Design and implement effective teaching and learning strategies to enhance student achievement and progress.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of departmental staff, promoting a collaborative and supportive culture.
  • Set clear performance targets for the department, regularly monitoring progress and implementing interventions where necessary.
  • Ensure the effective use of resources and facilities within the department, maintaining a stimulating and conducive learning environment.
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in Business Studies education, incorporating innovative teaching methods and technologies into the curriculum.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and external stakeholders, providing regular communication and feedback on student progress.
  • Contribute to the wider school community, participating in departmental meetings, school events, and extracurricular activities.

Requirements:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) and relevant academic qualifications in Business Studies or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching Business Studies at a secondary school level, with a track record of achieving excellent results.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management abilities, with experience in leading a team of educators.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment requirements for Business Studies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and external stakeholders.
  • Innovative and creative approach to teaching and learning, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and keeping abreast of educational trends and practices.
