We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Head of Religious Studies and Philosophy to lead within the Humanities department and inspire a love of learning in the school's students.
Role Overview: As the Head of Religious Studies and Philosophy, you will lead and manage the subject area, ensuring the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages (11-18). This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced educator to shape the curriculum, develop innovative teaching strategies, and make a significant impact on the academic and personal development of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Religious Studies and Philosophy department, providing strategic direction and vision in line with the school's overall objectives.
- Inspire and motivate a team of dedicated teachers, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment.
- Design and deliver an engaging and challenging curriculum that promotes critical thinking, spiritual development, and cultural awareness.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department, implementing effective strategies for improvement where necessary.
- Lead on the development and implementation of assessment and tracking systems to monitor student progress and attainment.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Humanities department and wider school community to promote cross-curricular initiatives and enrichment opportunities.
- Foster positive relationships with parents, carers, and external stakeholders, promoting a shared commitment to student achievement and well-being.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in Religious Studies, Philosophy, or a related field.
- Significant experience teaching Religious Studies and/or Philosophy at secondary level, with a strong understanding of the UK curriculum.
- Previous leadership experience within a Humanities department or similar educational setting, demonstrating the ability to lead and inspire colleagues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students, staff, and parents alike.
