Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Job Description

We are looking for a HLTA to join one of our wonderful Primary Schools in Bedfordshire starting in September.

This is a full-time position and will start out long-term with a high likeleness to turn into permanent.

The ideal candidate will be a former HLTA or have a minimum of 6 months being a HLTA in UK school.

Main Responsibilities:

Support for Pupils:

  1. Train students in study skills using clear communication and ICT tools, including questioning, instructing, explaining, and feedback.

  2. Provide pastoral care by attending to students' personal and social needs and building positive relationships.

  3. Support the inclusion of all students in learning activities.

  4. Administer first aid/medication and assist with special care programs like physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, or speech therapy under specialist guidance.

  5. Assist in preparing for and supervising school trips, working with the Educational Visits Coordinator.

Under the supervision of the class teacher:

  1. Conduct teaching activities with individuals, groups, or the whole class using various techniques to keep pupils engaged and motivated.

  2. Assist in planning and developing educational activities, including contributing to IEPs and Personal and Pastoral Support Plans. Understand lesson aims, content, strategies, and outcomes. Work with teachers to identify individual pupil differences, set high expectations, and decide on appropriate learning goals and strategies.

Requirements to apply:

  1. HLTA Qualification or equivalent
  2. DBS on update service
  3. Experience teaching in a UK school
