Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team in Northampton. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support the delivery of high-quality education, providing assistance both in and out of the classroom. This role requires a minimum of 6 months of education experience in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to teachers in planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons across a range of subjects and age groups.
  • Lead small group sessions or whole-class activities under the direction of the teacher, ensuring all students are actively engaged and making progress.
  • Assist with the assessment and monitoring of student progress, providing feedback to teachers to inform future planning.
  • Support students with special educational needs (SEN), including those with individual education plans (IEPs) or education, health, and care plans (EHCPs), adapting activities to meet their specific needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Supervise students during break times, lunchtimes, and off-site activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school community through involvement in extracurricular activities, events, and initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and achievement, in line with school policies and procedures.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge, keeping abreast of current educational trends and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 months of education experience in the UK.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to use initiative and work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people.
  • Knowledge of current educational policies and practices, including the national curriculum and assessment frameworks.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) and relevant safeguarding training.
