Join a specialist school in Stevenage as a passionate and dedicated teacher specialising in challenging behaviours and SEN. We are seeking individuals who can inspire and support students with challenging behaviours, SEN and SLCN. Your expertise will be invaluable in providing the best possible support to meet the students' mental health needs while ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment.

The ideal candidate will possess confidence in teaching multiple subjects to small groups of students. Moreover, they will excel in building relationships and establishing trust with individuals who have often experienced childhood trauma. Understanding the underlying causes of a child's behaviour and creating personalised support plans will be a crucial aspect of this role.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement EHCPs and Behaviour Support Plans
  • Plan and prepare lessons that cater to the diverse abilities within the class
  • Ensure the safety of all students and adhere to child protection and safeguarding policies
  • Assess and provide constructive feedback on student's work to facilitate their positive development
  • Collaborate with professionals such as education welfare officers and educational psychologists
  • Establish and apply criteria for evaluating success in academic and emotional development for students with SEMH needs

Essential requirements:

  • QTS
  • Degree in relevant subject
  • Demonstrated success in teaching and motivating young people with challenging behaviours and SEMH
  • Knowledge of effective communication methods to support SEMH and SLCN in children and young people
  • Excellent understanding of the SEN code of practice
  • A strong passion for improving the lives of young people, irrespective of their background and experiences
