About the Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and committed Science Teacher to join our dedicated team at a specialist SEN secondary school in Hoddesdon. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about making a real difference to young people's lives through education.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible Science lessons to Key Stage 4 students, many of whom have a range of additional learning needs. While a Biology specialism would be advantageous, we welcome applications from all Science disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare and deliver differentiated Science lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of SEN students at Key Stage 4.
Foster a nurturing, supportive, and positive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and personal growth.
Track and report on student progress, adapting teaching strategies and resources as needed.
Work collaboratively with the SENCo, teaching assistants, and wider pastoral team to support the holistic development of students.
Contribute to curriculum development and department initiatives that enhance the learning experience for all students.
Participate in school events, training, and meetings as required.
Uphold and promote the school's inclusive ethos, values, and safeguarding responsibilities.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
A degree in a relevant Science subject.
Experience teaching Science at Key Stage 4.
A genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
Strong classroom management and differentiation skills.
Desirable:
Biology specialism.
Experience working in a SEN or alternative provision setting.
Familiarity with SEN teaching strategies and inclusive classroom practices.
Experience teaching triple Science or leading extra-curricular STEM activities.
