SEN Learning Mentor - Hatfield, Full-Time Position.
Join our dedicated team at a nurturing school in Hatfield as an experienced and passionate SEN Learning Mentor. This is a fantastic full-time opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with special educational needs (SEN). Your role will be pivotal in providing individualized support, helping students overcome learning barriers and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with SEN, enabling adequate access to the curriculum
- Collaborate with teachers, parents/guardians, and other professionals to develop and implement individual learning plans
- Deliver targeted interventions and implement strategies to address learning difficulties, behavioural challenges, and social-emotional and mental health needs
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes the well-being and engagement of students with SEN
- Ensure effective integration of students with SEN into the wider school community, working closely with teachers and staff members
- Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents/guardians, and relevant stakeholders
- Support students during transitions and facilitate the development of essential life skills for future independence
- Liaise with external agencies, such as educational psychologists and speech and language therapists, to facilitate comprehensive support for students with SEN
- Maintain up-to-date records and documentation related to student progress and interventions provided
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with SEN in an educational setting
- Solid knowledge of various SEN conditions, including but not limited to Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Speech/Language impairments
- Familiarity with relevant strategies, interventions, and assistive technologies for supporting individuals with SEN
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues
- Strong organizational skills and practical task prioritization abilities
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and resilience when working with students with diverse needs
- Relevant qualifications in SEN support or education
- Enhanced DBS clearance, or willingness to obtain one
