Position: Learning Support Assistant
Location: High Wycombe
Salary: £20,297 - £21,823 per annum (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time Only
Start Date: September 2024

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join the team. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support the learning and development of pupils, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN). This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about education and eager to make a positive impact on young lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to pupils, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensure that the specific needs of each child are met.
  • Support the class teacher in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Help with the preparation of learning materials and resources.
  • Encourage and motivate students to engage actively in their learning.
  • Monitor and record pupils' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for all students.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role within a school setting is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their educational development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Basic understanding of child development and educational needs.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are advantageous but not essential.
