Job Title: Learning Support Teaching Assistant

Location: Wendover, Buckinghamshire.

Working Pattern: 0830-1530, 32.5 Hrs/wk

About Our Client: Our client is a prestigious educational institution committed to providing a supportive and enriching environment for their students. They are currently seeking a dedicated Learning Support Teaching Assistant to join their team and contribute to the development and education of their pupils.

Purpose of the Job: The Learning Support Assistant will undertake work/care/support programmes to enable access to learning and assist teachers in managing pupils in the classroom. They will provide support to teaching staff in the development and education of pupils with the provision of specialist skills as appropriate.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

General:

  • Undertake any duties as required by the Head of Campus to support the smooth functioning of the school.
  • Assist teachers in maintaining the health and safety of all students and good order and discipline, adhering to school policies and guidelines.
  • Play a role in school and self-evaluation, planning, monitoring, and the delivery of school improvement initiatives.
  • Help maintain a high standard of classroom environments to support student comfort, safety, self-esteem, and learning.

Supporting Learning and Teaching:

  • Assist teachers in delivering class teaching and associated preparatory, assessment, recording, and reporting work in subject specialisms and/or other curriculum areas.
  • Demonstrate skills in, and understanding of, a variety of teaching and learning strategies.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of policy documents and schemes of work for relevant subjects.
  • Impart knowledge, skills, and understanding to each pupil following modified and individualized schemes of work.
  • Support literacy, numeracy, ICT, and Key Skills development within curriculum areas.

Supporting, Caring, and Mentoring:

  • Know and be actively responsible for each individual pupil within the group, sharing successes and challenges.
  • Provide support in promoting the general progress academically, socially, and personally of all pupils within the group.
  • Liaise with colleagues, parents, educational support services, and other agencies as appropriate.
  • Lead or contribute significantly to recording, reporting, or assessment processes.

Personal Development and Other Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and seek further training and development opportunities.
  • Provide care, support, guidance, discipline, and encouragement to students.
  • Act as a positive role model for staff and students.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the academy's policies on Equal Opportunity, safeguarding, and health and safety.
