The school are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher of Maths to work in their vibrant, friendly school where the staff are highly valued and the students are motivated and eager to learn. You will be required to teach KS3 and KS4 Maths, and there is the opportunity to also teach KS5 Maths if desired. The successful candidate will deliver high quality teaching and learning and will be a creative, inspirational classroom practitioner.

Their Maths faculty is one of the most conspicuously successful in the school. Student progress is strong. There are 7 hours of teaching per fortnight at KS3 and 8 hours per fortnight at KS4, in settled groups averaging 26 students. Last summer their GCSE cohort achieved 90% 9-4 in Maths and 89% 8-9 in Further Maths. Large numbers of students choose to continue their study of Mathematics into the 6th Form where they are ably supported by a strong and cohesive team of teachers. KS5 results are also strong - last summer students achieved 85% A*- B in both Maths and Further Maths

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Qualification to the equivalent of degree level in specialist subject or a related subject

Work-related knowledge, experience and skills

  • Secure knowledge and understanding of the specialist subject at KS3, KS4, A Level and/or BTEC as appropriate, and of strategies that improve understanding
  • A good classroom practitioner with evidence of setting appropriate expectations to advance learning and to engage and motivate students.
  • Ability to encourage and maintain good order and discipline through well focused teaching, positive relationships and good classroom management
  • Ability to use appropriately a range of differentiated teaching and learning strategies for whole classes, individuals and groups which stimulate, challenge, engage and motivate students
  • Ability to set clear and appropriate targets, feedback to students and make use of assessment information to promote each student's attainment and progress, and to plan future lessons
  • Ability to make good use of ICT as a teaching and learning resource and for professional practice
  • Knowledge of how to give positive and targeted support to students with special educational needs
  • Ability to reflect on own practice
