Location: Barnet

Salary: MPS/UPS

Contract: Permanent, part time

Start Date: September

The school:

Their unique atmosphere is felt as soon as you walk through the doors of their magnificent state of the art building. The students are passionate, staff are happy and parents are proud. Their latest Ofsted report summarised the school perfectly

  • Pupils treat others as equals, showing kindness and respect.
  • Very little learning time is lost to poor behaviour.
  • Pupils enjoy attending this ambitious, supportive and inspiring school.
  • Leaders have embedded an ethos that promotes tolerance and inclusion.
  • Pupils are encouraged to develop their own identity while learning to understand and celebrate that of others.

They have a track record of outstanding results. Students achieve excellent outcomes and make great progress. In 2023 46% of A level grades were at A*or A and more than 79% of Cambridge Technical grades were Distinction* or Distinction. 45% of GCSE grades were grade 7 or higher, with more than a quarter of the cohort achieving at least 7 GCSEs at grade 7 or better. Their ALPS grade has been consistently 2 at both A level and GCSE, and our 'Progress 8' score is consistently significantly above national average.

Supported by a strong programme, students every year gain places at Oxbridge and for Medical and Veterinary Study, as well as for a wide range of specialisms and competitive courses at prestigious institutions.

The role:

They need an excellent teacher who is able to teach Spanish to Key Stage 5 and French to Key Stage 3. The Languages Faculty is a thriving and collaborative team of 6 teachers and 2 language assistants. All students learn French and Hebrew from entry in Year 7; all students take French in Year 8 and have the option to carry on with either Hebrew or take up Spanish. In Year 9, all students take one language and many opt for two. They are proud of the breadth of our offer and the strength of our outcomes across all languages.

They are looking for a positive, energetic and resilient individual who is able to personalise learning to enable all groups of students to fulfil their potential. The ideal candidate will have experience of teaching Spanish across the attainment range to all Key Stages including GCSE and A level. The ability to offer French at KS3 is desirable.
