Role Overview:

As an MSI (Multiple Sensory Impairment) Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing support and assistance to students with complex needs. Working within a SEN School environment, you will work closely with teaching staff and therapists to help students access the curriculum and develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with multiple sensory impairments.
  • Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior plans.
  • Support students in developing communication skills and independence.
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Monitor and record student progress and behavior.
  • Provide personal care and hygiene support as needed.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, especially those with multiple sensory impairments, is advantageous.
  • A passion for working with children and a commitment to their well-being and development.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability.
  • A willingness to learn and undergo training as required.
