Job Title: PE Teacher

Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive (based on the school's independent pay scale up to £47,000 PA)
Start Date: September 2023
We are currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated PE Teacher to join our thriving independent school based in Bushey. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging PE lessons to students across all key stages, with a particular focus on GCSE and A Level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality PE lessons in accordance with the school's curriculum and assessment policies
- Use a range of teaching strategies to engage and motivate students, and promote a positive learning environment
- Assess and monitor student progress, and provide feedback to students, parents and colleagues as required
- Contribute to the development of the PE curriculum, and take an active role in departmental meetings and activities
- Participate in school-wide events, such as sports days, and contribute to the extra-curricular programme
- Keep up-to-date with developments in the field of PE, and engage in continuing professional development (CPD) as required
Essential Criteria:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent) (Desirable)
- Experience of teaching PE to GCSE and A Level
- Knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for PE
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging and challenging lessons to students of all abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience of working in an independent school setting
- A degree or equivalent qualification in PE or a related subject
- Coaching qualifications and experience of working with sports teams or clubs
