Position Overview: Dunbar Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Geography Teacher to join our team at a Secondary School in Luton. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality geography education to secondary school students, fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment, and contributing to the overall success and development of our school community.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver comprehensive and stimulating geography lessons in accordance with the UK national curriculum, ensuring differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage students in the subject matter and promote active learning.
- Create and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning, where all students feel supported and valued.
- Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their academic growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and initiatives that enhance the learning experience and promote cross-curricular connections.
- Support students' personal and academic development through pastoral care, mentoring, and extracurricular involvement.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, providing regular updates on student progress and participating in parent-teacher meetings as required.
- Stay abreast of developments in the field of geography education, integrating innovative teaching strategies and technologies into classroom practice.
- Adhere to school policies and procedures, including those related to behavior management, safeguarding, and health and safety.
- Participate in departmental meetings, professional development activities, and school events, contributing to the wider life of the school community.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Geography or a related field (PGCE or QTS preferred).
- Minimum of 6 months of teaching experience in a UK secondary school setting.
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for geography education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Proven ability to plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons that cater to the needs of diverse learners.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive school culture.
