Position Overview: Dunbar Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Geography Teacher to join our team at a Secondary School in Luton. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality geography education to secondary school students, fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment, and contributing to the overall success and development of our school community.

Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and deliver comprehensive and stimulating geography lessons in accordance with the UK national curriculum, ensuring differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students.
  2. Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage students in the subject matter and promote active learning.
  3. Create and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning, where all students feel supported and valued.
  4. Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their academic growth.
  5. Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and initiatives that enhance the learning experience and promote cross-curricular connections.
  6. Support students' personal and academic development through pastoral care, mentoring, and extracurricular involvement.
  7. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, providing regular updates on student progress and participating in parent-teacher meetings as required.
  8. Stay abreast of developments in the field of geography education, integrating innovative teaching strategies and technologies into classroom practice.
  9. Adhere to school policies and procedures, including those related to behavior management, safeguarding, and health and safety.
  10. Participate in departmental meetings, professional development activities, and school events, contributing to the wider life of the school community.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Geography or a related field (PGCE or QTS preferred).
  2. Minimum of 6 months of teaching experience in a UK secondary school setting.
  3. Strong subject knowledge and a passion for geography education.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  5. Proven ability to plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons that cater to the needs of diverse learners.
  6. Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
  7. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive school culture.
