SEMH Teaching Assistant

Dunbar Education Recruitment Agency is on the lookout for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join an exceptional school located in the heart of Hertford! Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Hours: Full-time

Key Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 6 months experience in SEN environments, with a focus on supporting students with SEMH needs.
  • Passion: A genuine passion for working in an SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) setting, where you'll play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students facing various challenges.
  • Preferred Experience: Primary school experience would be a plus.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building strong relationships with both students and colleagues, particularly in managing challenging behavior.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with SEMH needs, assisting them in overcoming obstacles and achieving their full potential.
  • Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies to support students in managing their emotions and behaviors effectively.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued, respected, and supported.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff members to ensure the holistic development and wellbeing of students with SEMH needs.
  • Respond proactively to incidents of challenging behavior, using de-escalation techniques and appropriate interventions to promote a safe and supportive learning environment.
