SEN Education Support Worker

Job Description

Dunbar Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Education Support Worker to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in inspiring confidence, fostering positive relationships, and promoting the well-being and progress of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspire confidence in pupils and colleagues through positive role modeling.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the school team, contributing to the continual improvement and development of the school.
  • Engage and motivate pupils, setting and maintaining high expectations for their progress.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of pupils, adhering to school policies at all times.
  • Plan, deliver, and evidence parts of individual learning programmes 1:1 or in small groups, including appropriate risk assessments.
  • Maintain an awareness of safeguarding, prioritising and reporting all concerns.
  • Implement strategies to support pupils with SEN in accessing learning activities, building trust as a reliable adult.
  • Act as a keyworker for young people, providing targeted support and helping them overcome barriers to learning.
  • Encourage the development of strategies for managing behavior, anger, and frustration.
  • Create and maintain a purposeful and supportive environment for pupils.
  • Keep accurate records, attend multi-agency meetings, and contribute to paperwork surrounding pupils.
  • Model positive behavior, encouraging positive interactions among children and young people.
  • Prepare materials, displays, and resources as directed, working collaboratively with other staff in a team.
  • Undertake training as agreed with the Line Manager, promoting self-esteem and independence.
  • Attend team meetings and adhere to all safeguarding, risk assessment, and Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Transport children and young people in your own car, adhering to 'Driving' and 'Lone Working' policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality relating to pupils, staff, and business matters.

Requirements:

  • Full-time availability.
  • Must have a DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
  • Relevant qualifications in Education or Special Education.
  • Experience working with children and young people with SEN.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
