SEN Maths Teacher

Job Description

We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Maths Teacher to join our team in a challenging behaviour setting. As an SEN Maths Teacher, you will be responsible for providing high-quality education and support to students with special educational needs who exhibit challenging behavior. Your role will involve delivering engaging and differentiated mathematics lessons, implementing individualized learning plans, and promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver effective and engaging mathematics lessons to students with special educational needs, taking into account their individual learning needs and abilities.
  • Adapt teaching strategies and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and address challenging behaviors.
  • Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the school's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and other relevant staff members.
  • Use a variety of teaching techniques, resources, and technologies to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback and assessments to ensure their academic and personal development.
  • Manage challenging behaviors in a supportive and empathetic manner, using appropriate behavior management strategies and interventions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents/guardians, and external professionals to ensure effective communication and coordinated support for students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behavior incidents.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and other school-related activities as required.

Requirements:

  • Certification in Mathematics or Special Education.
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs, particularly those with challenging behaviors.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the mathematics curriculum and ability to differentiate instruction to meet individual needs.
  • Excellent behavior management skills and the ability to establish a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/guardians, and external professionals.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and personal development of students with special educational needs.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of students and the school.
