Position: SEN Support Worker

Location: Northampton

Contract Type: Full-time

Start Date: ASAP or September, depending on availability

Role Description: As a SEN Support Worker at Dunbar Education, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs in their academic, social, and emotional development. Your primary responsibility will be to work closely with the teaching staff and SENCo to implement personalized learning plans and ensure a positive and inclusive classroom environment. You will provide one-on-one support, deliver small group interventions, and assist with adapting materials and resources to suit individual learning styles and abilities. Additionally, you will help students develop key life skills and foster their independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the teaching team and SENCo to implement personalized learning plans for students with SEN.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students, assisting with their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Adapt teaching materials and resources to meet the specific needs of students with SEN.
  • Deliver small group interventions and monitor student progress.
  • Support students in developing key life skills and promoting their independence.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with parents, guardians, and external professionals involved in the students' care.
  • Contribute to the overall development and improvement of the school's SEN provision.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN) is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and helping them overcome learning barriers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of students and the school environment.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
