SEN Teacher

Job Description

Dunbar Education is currently seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teacher to join our team in Towcester. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in planning and delivering a high-quality curriculum to support pupils in making good or outstanding progress. This is a full-time position and requires candidates to have or be willing to obtain a DBS on the update service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver clear, high-quality lessons that support pupils' progress and embed key concepts in their long-term memory.
  • Set clear targets for pupils' learning, considering each pupil as an individual and building on prior attainment.
  • Have a deep understanding of and plan to meet the special educational needs of pupils.
  • Develop expert knowledge in the subject(s) taught.
  • Enable all pupils to understand key concepts, checking understanding and correcting misunderstandings effectively.
  • Assess pupil work and progress, providing regular feedback and using it to inform teaching continuously.
  • Prioritise reading to develop pupils' fluency, confidence, and enjoyment.
  • Plan and sequence learning towards cumulatively sufficient knowledge and meaningful accreditation.
  • Build learning towards an endpoint that leads into the next stage of education, training, or employment.
  • Report on pupil progress in line with school policy.
  • Maintain a stimulating, engaging, and safe learning environment.
  • Positively manage behaviour in line with school policy.
  • Undertake pastoral and support roles as required.
  • Attend school events and contribute to the wider life of the school, including routines, paperwork, and duties.
  • Work with pupils across school sites and at outreach venues as required, including transporting pupils in your own vehicle when necessary.

Main Purpose: To plan and deliver an inspiring curriculum that enables all pupils to make good progress, enjoy, and achieve. Encourage pupil participation in all lessons and other school-related activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must have a valid DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
  • UK teaching experience is essential.
  • Strong commitment to SEN teaching and meeting individual needs.
  • Proven ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
