SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join the team as an SEN Teaching Assistant at our partner Primary School in Bedford. This role involves providing crucial support to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) across the specialist provision and mainstream classrooms.

Position Details:

  • Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Primary School in Bedford
  • Hours: 5 days per week, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Responsibilities:

  • Providing personalised support to children with ASD, addressing their individual needs and learning styles.
  • Collaborating with the SENCO, teachers and staff to implement tailored learning plans for students with SEN.
  • Creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Conducting one-to-one sessions and small group activities to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Cultivating positive relationships with students, aiding their social and emotional development.
  • Assisting in managing behavioral and emotional challenges with appropriate strategies.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting individuals with SEN, ideally ASD.
  • Familiarity with diverse strategies and interventions for children with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents and professionals.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy and a nurturing approach towards diverse needs.
