SEN Teaching Assistant

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse special educational needs, including but not limited to ADHD, ASD, and behavioural challenges.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected.
  • Collaborate with other staff members and external professionals to ensure the holistic development of students with SEN.
  • Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting students with SEN.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role within a primary school setting.
  • Knowledge of special educational needs, including ADHD, ASD, and behaviour management techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students across different age groups (reception to Year 6).
  • Relevant qualifications and/or training in special educational needs (desirable but not essential).
