Are you a dedicated and experienced SEND Teacher looking for an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children with special educational needs? We are currently seeking a passionate SEND Teacher to join a thriving primary school in St Albans and be part of the new Special Education Needs Unit.

About the School: The school is a well-established and highly regarded primary school committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment. They have recently built a state-of-the-art SEN unit within the school premises, specifically designed to cater to the needs of their pupils with special educational needs.

Position Overview: As an experienced SEND Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in delivering outstanding education and care to a small class of a maximum of 10 pupils, all in Key Stage 1. Working closely with the SEN team and utilising the excellent resources and facilities available in the new unit, you will create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that promotes academic progress, social development, and emotional well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver tailored lessons and learning activities to meet the individual needs and abilities of pupils with special educational needs in KS1.
  • Implement and adapt the curriculum to ensure optimal engagement and progress for each student.
  • Assess and monitor pupils' progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Collaborate with the SEN team, parents, and external professionals to create personalised learning plans and strategies.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, promoting a sense of belonging and self-confidence among students.
  • Employ a range of effective teaching strategies, resources, and assistive technologies to facilitate learning.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to pupils' progress, achievements, and behaviour.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with relevant experience in teaching children with special educational needs.
  • Sound knowledge of SEN practices, strategies, and the latest educational approaches.
  • Experience working in a KS1 setting and a thorough understanding of the KS1 curriculum.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and a commitment to nurturing the holistic development of each student.
