Senior Assistant Teacher / HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant)

Location: Prestwood, Buckinghamshire

Contract: Permanent

Grade/Salary Range: £23,194 - £27,281 pro rata (depending on qualifications/experience)

Working Pattern: 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per annum

Dunbar Education is pleased to partner with our client in the recruitment of a Senior Assistant Teacher/HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant). In this vital role, you will provide invaluable support to the teaching staff, contributing to the academic and pastoral development of students in our inclusive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cover Supervision: Act as a Senior Assistant Teacher during the short-term absence of teachers, overseeing whole classes and maintaining a conducive learning atmosphere.

  • Support and Intervention: Work with withdrawal and small groups to provide targeted support and intervention, ensuring every student's needs are addressed effectively.

  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage Assistant Teachers, offering guidance, support, and mentorship as required to enhance their professional development.

  • Collaborative Planning: Collaborate with teaching staff in all stages of the planning cycle, assisting in lesson planning and the preparation of resources to complement teachers' delivery of the national curriculum.

  • Curriculum Enhancement: Contribute to the development of Academy policies and strategies, promoting the inclusion of all students and fostering an environment conducive to independent learning.

  • Student Support: Provide comprehensive support for students, including those with additional needs such as SEN, EAL, GT, FSM, and underachievers, to raise standards of achievement for all pupils.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Significant experience working in an educational setting, preferably as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.

  • Qualifications: While a HLTA qualification is desirable, relevant experience and a commitment to professional development will also be considered.

  • Knowledge: Advanced understanding of the national curriculum and strategies for supporting student learning and development.

  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team, collaborate effectively with colleagues, and provide guidance and support to students.
