Position Overview:
Dunbar Education is seeking a dedicated and reliable Cover Supervisor to join our team at a Secondary School in Bedfordshire. The Cover Supervisor will play a crucial role in maintaining continuity in students' learning by providing effective cover for absent teachers. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 months of education experience within the UK and will be passionate about supporting the academic and personal development of young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cover Teaching:

    • Deliver pre-prepared lessons across a range of subjects to classes in the absence of the regular teacher.
    • Manage classroom behavior and ensure a conducive learning environment is maintained.
    • Ensure that all students are engaged and actively participating in the lesson activities.
  2. Supporting Learning:

    • Assist students with their learning by providing guidance and support as directed by the regular teacher's lesson plan.
    • Encourage independent thinking and problem-solving skills among students.
    • Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  3. Classroom Management:

    • Uphold school policies and procedures regarding behavior management and discipline.
    • Implement strategies to manage challenging behavior effectively, maintaining a positive and respectful atmosphere in the classroom.
    • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the regular teacher as necessary.
  4. Administrative Tasks:

    • Complete administrative duties related to cover supervision, such as registering attendance and reporting any incidents or concerns to the appropriate staff members.
    • Ensure that classroom resources and materials are organized and readily available for use.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 months of education experience within the UK, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to maintain discipline and manage behavior effectively.
  • A passion for education and a commitment to supporting the academic and personal development of students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across different subject areas and year groups as required.
  • A relevant qualification in education or a related field would be advantageous.
