SLCN Mentor Wanted!
Dunbar Education is seeking a compassionate and skilled SLCN Mentor to join a fantastic school in Hertfordshire. As as SLCN mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SLCN, both within the classroom and outside, to help them overcome communication barriers and achieve academic success. Your expertise and dedication will contribute to the holistic development of our students and enhance their overall learning experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Deliver speech and language interventions to pupils in the classroom and various settings outside of the classroom
- Implement strategies provided by Speech and Language Therapists, following individual treatment plans
- Record, review, and evaluate the progress of pupils, ensuring accurate and detailed documentation using Intervention record sheets
- establish and maintain supportive relationships with pupils, parents, carers, and other employees/stakeholders, fostering a collaborative approach towards student development
- Collaborate with the wider school team to ensure the integration of speech and language support within the curriculum and classroom activities
Requirements:
- Good standard of education, including relevant qualifications in childcare or a related field
- Previous experience working in a professional setting with children with SEN and SEMH challenges
- Safeguarding qualification and up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding protocol
- Enhanced DBS clearance
- Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with students, parents, and colleagues
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to prioritise tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively
