Position Details:

  • Pay Scale: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)

Location: Aylesbury

Job Purpose: We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated History Teacher to join our Humanities department on a maternity cover basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality History lessons, fostering a positive learning environment, and supporting students in achieving their academic potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective History lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Assess and provide constructive feedback on student work in accordance with school policies.
  • Support students in preparing for GCSE and A-Level examinations, including providing extra help and guidance where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and report to parents/carers and senior staff as required.
  • Participate in departmental and whole-school meetings, contributing to the development of the History curriculum and wider school initiatives.
  • Uphold the school's policies on behavior, safeguarding, and equality, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Take part in school events, trips, and extracurricular activities to enhance the educational experience of students.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in History or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching History at secondary level, including GCSE and A-Level.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and willingness to engage in training and professional learning.
