Position: Teaching Assistant
Location: Oakley
Salary: £15,931-£16,241 per annum (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time Only
Start Date: September 2024

We have a charming and close-knit primary school situated in Oakleylocated on the county borders of Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, situated between Bicester and Thame. Job Description:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join the team. The successful candidate will support teachers in delivering high-quality education and ensuring the well-being of our pupils. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about education and eager to make a meaningful contribution to our school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in the preparation and delivery of lessons.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to pupils to enhance their learning experience.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support pupils with special educational needs (SEN) and adapt learning activities to meet their individual needs.
  • Prepare and organise classroom materials and resources.
  • Supervise pupils during break times, lunchtimes, and other school activities.
  • Assist with the assessment and recording of pupils' progress.
  • Foster a nurturing and encouraging atmosphere to support pupil engagement and confidence.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational role is preferred.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their educational development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
  • Basic understanding of child development and educational practices.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are advantageous but not essential.
