Overview: Dunbar Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Secondary School in Bedford. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support the learning and development of students. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the educational experience of young people and make a positive impact within a dynamic school environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Classroom Support: Provide support to teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons, including assisting with classroom management and behavior management strategies.

  2. Individualized Support: Work with students on a one-to-one or small group basis to reinforce learning objectives, provide additional guidance, and facilitate understanding of subject matter.

  3. Resource Preparation: Assist in the preparation and organization of teaching materials, resources, and equipment required for lessons and activities.

  4. Assessment Assistance: Support teachers in the administration and marking of assessments, as well as the collation and analysis of student progress data.

  5. Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support: Collaborate with the SENCO and other staff members to provide support for students with special educational needs, ensuring their individual needs are met and inclusion is promoted.

  6. Behavior Management: Implement behavior management strategies as directed by teachers and school policies, fostering a positive and respectful learning environment.

  7. Supervision: Supervise students during break times, lunchtimes, and other non-classroom activities, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

  8. Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with teachers, school staff, parents, and external stakeholders, providing updates on student progress and any concerns or developments.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 6 months of education experience in a UK setting, preferably within a secondary school environment.
  2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, teachers, and other stakeholders.
  3. A genuine passion for education and supporting the learning and development of young people.
  4. Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  5. An understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of students.
  6. Relevant qualifications or training in education, such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, would be advantageous but not essential.
