Overview: Dunbar Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Secondary School in Bedford. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support the learning and development of students. Responsibilities:
Classroom Support: Provide support to teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons, including assisting with classroom management and behavior management strategies.
Individualized Support: Work with students on a one-to-one or small group basis to reinforce learning objectives, provide additional guidance, and facilitate understanding of subject matter.
Resource Preparation: Assist in the preparation and organization of teaching materials, resources, and equipment required for lessons and activities.
Assessment Assistance: Support teachers in the administration and marking of assessments, as well as the collation and analysis of student progress data.
Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support: Collaborate with the SENCO and other staff members to provide support for students with special educational needs, ensuring their individual needs are met and inclusion is promoted.
Behavior Management: Implement behavior management strategies as directed by teachers and school policies, fostering a positive and respectful learning environment.
Supervision: Supervise students during break times, lunchtimes, and other non-classroom activities, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with teachers, school staff, parents, and external stakeholders, providing updates on student progress and any concerns or developments.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 6 months of education experience in a UK setting, preferably within a secondary school environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, teachers, and other stakeholders.
- A genuine passion for education and supporting the learning and development of young people.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- An understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of students.
- Relevant qualifications or training in education, such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, would be advantageous but not essential.
