We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) based in Milton Keynes. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with their academic, social, and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, assisting them with their learning activities and helping them overcome any barriers to learning.
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies tailored to the needs of each student.
- Support the classroom teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities, ensuring that students are actively participating and making progress.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and valued.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teacher, highlighting areas of improvement and recognizing achievements.
- Assist with classroom organization, resource preparation, and maintaining a safe and tidy learning environment.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, and social workers, to provide comprehensive support to students.
Requirements:
- Relevant experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for helping students overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies to support students with additional needs.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or willingness to undergo one.
Desirable:
- Qualifications in teaching or support work (e.g., Teaching Assistant qualification, CACHE Level 2 or 3, or equivalent).
- Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN), including those with social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.
- Knowledge of relevant educational frameworks and strategies, such as Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and differentiated instruction.
