Salary: Day rates £85 - £95, dependent on qualifications and experience

Contract: Temporary to Permanent, Term-time only (37 hours per week, Monday to Friday)

Dunbar Education, in partnership with a leading SEMH school/alternative provision in Chesham, is seeking a dedicated Temporary to Permanent Teaching Assistant / Intervention Support to join their team.

Person Specification:

  • Level 2 Maths and English qualifications
  • Commitment to professional development
  • Experience working with students with diverse needs
  • Experience delivering interventions to support SEMH difficulties (desirable)
  • Strong prioritization, planning, and organizational skills
  • Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
  • Ability to establish trusting relationships with students, families, and professionals
  • Confident and calm demeanor in difficult situations
  • Warm, loving personality

About the Role: As a Temporary to Permanent Teaching Assistant / Intervention Support, you will collaborate with teachers and the Behaviour Support Team to ensure students can manage their social, emotional, and/or mental health needs in the classroom, enabling their academic success. You will work closely with the Behaviour Support Team, providing support during crisis situations, facilitating de-escalation, and assisting with post-incident resolution. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to deliver intervention sessions for small groups or on a 1:1 basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in managing students' social, emotional, and/or mental health needs in the classroom
  • Collaborate with the Behaviour Support Team to provide crisis support and post-incident assistance
  • Deliver intervention sessions for small groups or individuals
  • Foster trusting relationships with students, families, and professionals
  • Stay calm under pressure and maintain loving relationships with students displaying challenging behavior
  • Embrace a trauma-informed approach, recognizing and supporting students with complex backgrounds and adverse childhood experiences
