Therapy Assistant - SEN School

About the Role:

Dunbar Education is delighted to be working with an outstanding SEN school in Kettering, dedicated to supporting students aged 11-18 with cognition and learning difficulties. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Therapy Assistant to join our team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality occupational and physiotherapy services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist our specialist Occupational Therapist in delivering exceptional occupational and physiotherapy services to students.
  • Contribute to the assessment and treatment of students, both individually and in groups.
  • Undertake therapeutic work and supervise students in activities related to their treatment.
  • Perform general therapy-related duties, including cleaning equipment, collating statistical information, and ordering supplies.
  • Undertake clerical and school-based tasks to ensure the smooth running of the therapy department.
  • Support school staff with the healthcare needs of students.
  • Participate in and contribute to assessment and treatment planning sessions.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or setting is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people with special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
