Job Title: Year 6 SEN Teaching Assistant - Local Primary School in Northampton

Dunbar Education is currently working on behalf of a local primary school in Northampton to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Year 6 SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a wonderful opportunity to join a supportive team and make a positive impact on the educational journey of students with special educational needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with special educational needs in Year 6, ensuring their access to the curriculum and promoting their inclusion within the classroom.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and implement individualised learning strategies, accommodations, and interventions to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Assist students with their academic tasks, offering guidance, reinforcement, and adapted teaching methods as necessary.
  • Foster the social and emotional well-being of students, promoting positive interactions and providing additional support when required.
  • Encourage independent learning and problem-solving skills, empowering students to reach their full potential.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to the teacher and participating in meetings to discuss their educational and developmental needs.
  • Collaborate with external specialists and support services to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to students' support.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of students' progress, behaviour, and any interventions or support provided.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, preferably supporting students with special educational needs.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on student's educational journeys.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Knowledge of various special educational needs and strategies to support students in Year 6.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the classroom environment.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
