Job Description

Dunbar Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Support professional to join our team in Milton Keynes. As a 1:1 SEN Support, you will work closely with students with special educational needs (SEN) to provide individualized assistance and support in their academic and personal development.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with special educational needs (SEN) in accordance with their individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Assist students in their academic work, including reading, writing, and other subject areas
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the unique needs and learning styles of each student
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians
  • Promote independence and inclusion among students, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Collaborate with teachers, educational psychologists, and other professionals to develop strategies for student success
  • Manage and address any behavioral issues or challenges that arise, implementing appropriate interventions as needed
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student support and progress

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN) is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of various special educational needs and strategies for supporting students with diverse learning requirements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents/guardians
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students to create a positive learning environment
  • Organizational skills to manage individualized support plans and record student progress
  • Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of students and the educational environment
  • Relevant qualifications in special education or a related field would be advantageous
