We are currently seeking a dedicated Specialist 1-1 Support professional to join our team in Hemel Hempstead, providing essential assistance to a child with special educational needs, communication difficulties, and challenging behaviours in a primary school setting.
Position Overview: As a Specialist 1-1 Support, you will play a crucial role in helping a child with special educational needs (SEN) thrive in their primary school environment. The child you will be supporting has communication difficulties and challenging behaviours, requiring a patient and skilled individual to provide tailored assistance and guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to the child with SEN, focusing on their individual needs and goals.
- Implement strategies and interventions to help the child manage communication difficulties and challenging behaviours.
- Collaborate with the school's SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and teaching staff to ensure a coordinated approach to support.
- Create and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment for the child.
- Record and track progress, regularly reporting to the school and parents/guardians.
- Adapt support strategies as needed to accommodate the child's evolving needs.
- Foster a positive and supportive relationship with the child to promote their well-being and confidence.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with communication difficulties and challenging behaviours.
- Strong understanding of SEN and the ability to develop and implement tailored support plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children overcome challenges.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in education, child development, or related fields are preferred.
- An enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) is required.
Working Hours: This is a full-time position, with typical school hours, 8:30-3:30. The successful candidate will be expected to work during school term times.
