Role Overview: We are seeking enthusiastic ASD Specialist Support Staff to join our team and work closely with schools in Milton Keynes. The primary responsibility of the role is to provide tailored support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, helping them achieve their academic and personal goals. As an ASD Specialist Support Staff member, you will play a pivotal role in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment, ensuring every student has equal opportunities to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Individualized Support: Offer personalized assistance to students with ASD, addressing their unique learning needs and challenges.

  2. Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) for students with ASD.

  3. Classroom Assistance: Provide in-class support to students, ensuring they can actively engage in lessons and activities.

  4. Emotional Support: Help students develop essential social and emotional skills, promoting their well-being and self-confidence.

  5. Crisis Management: Be prepared to handle potential crisis situations that may arise, following established school protocols.

  6. Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess students' progress and maintain accurate records to track their development.

  7. Parent Communication: Maintain open and proactive communication with parents or guardians, updating them on their child's progress and areas of improvement.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder is highly desirable.
  • A background in education, psychology, or a related field would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of different communication techniques and behavioral management strategies for students with ASD.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Patient, compassionate, and empathetic attitude towards students with additional needs.
  • Ability to adapt to various educational settings and demonstrate flexibility in supporting different students.
